Alumbrones
Rey Escobar's original music for the highly-acclaimed Cuban documentary film Alumbrones. Directed by Bruce Donelly, looks at the work and lives of twelve contemporary Cuban artists, living in Havana today. Through in-depth interviews, the film covers a diverse range of subjects and issues, from supply shortages to family life, love, sex and music. Visiting each person in their home and studio, the film explores the philosophies and ideas present in their work as well as the many obstacles and difficulties that are faced on a daily basis and the feelings each person has towards the place they call home.


Coming Soon
Rey Escobar's original music for the brand new Cuban documentary film Bongó Itá is coming soon in social platforms! Directed by Mayckell Pedrero Mariol, the film looks at the Abakuá Secret Society. The film covers the myth, criminality, and way of life of this brotherhood through in-depth research and interviews.
This was a very especial work for Rey Escobar, as he obtained his Master in Arts with a research about the influence of Abakuá Secret Society in Music.
Bongó Itá had the world premier at World Cinema Amsterdan (Netherlands) on August of 2022. Recently, the film was showed at Havana Film Festival New York, and Festival del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de La Habana.
